Premillenial rapture did NOT start with Darby. John UK, you are quoting an amillenial assessment of what Darby believed. Please be kind to show where Darby called it a secret rapture from something he said not something that was said about him and include the reference .

Secret rapture is an amillenial term not a premileenial term. Pretty much the only place there term is used is on amillenial sites. Thanks

Great John UK, thanks for your response. Because no one who post here or any in the premillennial camp believe in a secret rapture either. That’s a fictitious term.

John UK wrote:
This refers to the end of the world and the day of judgment, not to some "secret rapture" of the saints in the middle of some tribulation.
See what I mean?
Secret
adj.
Kept hidden from knowledge or view; concealed.

May I ask some questions

1. If it’s a “secret rapture” how do you know about it? (hidden from knowledge)

2. In a world of around 7 billion people it is fair to say that true Christians number in the millions, if they are all taken away you don’t think anyone would notice? How is something so obviously public, “secret”? (concealed)

3. If it’s a secret why are those who believe in this “secret” rapture writing books, preaching sermons, and warning others about it making the effort to proclaim it?

No desire to challenge your view on the timing of the passage in question just trying to show you that your terminology may need to be reconsidered. Thanks

Thank you for your time and thinking John.

You really should ponder that you can’t produce a single Bible verse that states having wealth is sinful and/or lacking wealth is spiritual. God bless

John no how many verses we share with each other none of them show that a lack of wealth means spirituality or having wealth is sinful.

As our Lotd said it is what comes from the heart that matters. Wealth is not measured IMO in prosperity but being rich in our relationship with God

Sorry John, because people abuse the Scriptures doesn’t make them invalid. There are plenty more Scriptures I could use. This world is not our home, our treasures are to be laid up in heaven. But at no point does the Bible teach that there is something spiritual about being poor. Our Lord was not poor, see the complaint that the ointment could be sold and GIVEN AWAY to help the poor. (Matthew 26 Mark 14). Compared to the glories of heaven and being owner of the world, (Psalm 50)His humanity was poor ( 2 Cor 8:9).

Read verses 17-19 in the same chapter brother John. Having wealth above our supply of food and clothes is not necessarily a sign of lack of contentment as the Bible says He has given us all things richly to enjoy. While there is a warning to labor for the sole purpose of gaining wealth, Proverbs 13:11 states wealth gathered by labor shall increase

You have two examples from your own country. George Mueller depended upon the Lord to meet the needs of the orphans in his care and God used people with wealth to meet those needs. Spurgeon spent much wealth distributing, sermons, tracts, books and training because the Lord has provided the means to do so through the wealth of believers.

It is not the possession of or the accumulation of money that is the root of all evil but the love of because you cannot serve two masters.

Thanks for your response, John UK. Nothing I have posted contradicts the the words of our Lord or even of Adam Clarke. You do need to note that the passage does not end there. The astonished disciples asked who then can be saved and our Lord said with men these things are not possible but with God ALL things are possible.

We live by the words found in I Timothy 6:17. I, like you, am not wealthy but neither am I poor. By the standard of wealth in the time in which our Lord walked this earth, you would be one of the wealthy.

Our Lord lived off the the support of the wealthy who freely gave to His work and supported both Him and the disciples. He paid taxes with coins found in the mouth of a fish and unlike us, did not have a domicile in which to stay.

So, back to my question, which points have I said with which you disagree? Am I to assume that you think there is some spirituality in being poor?

Lastly my brother you do not understand the U.S. stock market if you think it is only participated in and benefited by the wealthy. That’s the lie of the liberal left.

The Bible states that God gives the ability to get wealth. Therefore just like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job,David, Solomon, Hezekiah, Joseph of Arimethia, Barnabas, etc it is not sinful to have riches. Just so long as one doesn’t put their trust in them or set their affections on them.

I am unaware of any Capitalist manifesto. You can see Capitalism taught in Scripture but the concept of it as we know it as a defined economic system post dates the Bible.

Again I am sorry but did you have a specific objection to my points? Some posting seemed to imply that getting and having wealth was unspiritual

Not sure what your getting at. Do you believe those words to a specific person for a specific problem apply without context to all individuals? Not sure how those verses apply to my post

Seems like we need to remember

1. The stock market is not only for people who are wealthy, it affects more those in the middle class.

2. That being being wealthy does not necessarily mean you worship money.

3. That there is no virtue or spirituality in being poor financially

4. That the spread of the gospel and its ministers are financed by those who have money

5. That those who help the poor (including our brethren)are those who are not .

Here’s the difference John

That same day at evening being the first day of the week, ...came Jesus into their midst and sauté unto them, Peace he unto you and when He had so said He sowed Hus hands and side,

Then we’re the disciples glad when they saw the Lord

Christians celebrate the resurrection of Christ and yes it’s in the Bible

Looks like Jim’s ABC article lays the blame at the Democrats in charge. Crime went down under Giuliani. Probably why Jim is encouraging people to vote Republican

It ya obvious that President Trump lives rent free in Jim from Lincoln’s head.

Stevenr I believe we should look at things through the Galatians 6:10 filter. Instead of viewing who is the lesser of two evils we should see which candidate and party does the most good to all men, especially those of the household of faith

If Jim cared about the character of the candidate he would disavow the entire lineup of Democratic presidential contenders

Although to be sure all evangelicals are not truly Christians, nevertheless the term in political parlance is synonymous with Chruians.

Thus we not only have AOC bigoted rant against Christians, we also have Jim from Lincoln joining her side and also putting out a post against Christians.

Quite telling isn’t it.
