Wrong governor, Jim. She's the governor of Michigan.

Actually, Brother Tim, I think our governor here is operating at 25 percent, so taking that mandate a different way.

Hmmmm...sounds like his theology is influencing his politics, Jim. Thought you said that was a "no no"? It also sounds like this pastor is forcing his views on others, having bought into socialism as an extension of his theology. What a shame.

It reminds me of a clip posted here on SA called the "Voice of Bob Jones Sr." His comments on this are so much better than mine, I'll refer you to him, Jim.

Completely agree, Brother Frank. As the boundaries grey out then disappear, more and more "undesirables" dieappear. At the point no one is safe is where they have almost total control.

Abortions of the post-born. Absurd.

What's frightening to me is that it is impossible to know if you might be safe entering a doctor's office or hospital under those conditions. What if your case isn't easily treatable? What if you are disabled? They'll just help you along...

In our homeschool, my wife and educate all the children in our home equally. Of course, we only have one.

This news item is not a surprise. Anyone who achieves better than the norm is a target, not because they were designed and crafted by the Lord with some sort of special aspect, but because that aspect makes their peers feel worse about themselves. These must be brought lower. It is like the conflict over roles or special gifts in the second half of 1 Corinthians 12. The Apostle Paul's answer, his more excellent way, is 1 Corinthians 13.

Been trying to post a comment since yesterday & have been providentially hindered.

I skimmed the article. What these so-called leaders miss is that the church has a particular mission in regards to the poor that is NOT supposed to be supplanted by the state. But ever since LBJ's "war on poverty," the argument has been that the need is too great. I disagree. But there are underlying moral structural issues in lack of fatherhood, a wrong view of marriage as something of convienence, and the concept that working hard to escape circumstances (when blessed with the fruit of hard work by the Lord) is a betrayal of that inner society. The Gospel is the solution to those problems through the cleansing work of the Holy Spirit once individuals come to faith.

The government doesn't offer this. It only offers more incentive to do mediocre.

The history of many different ethnic groups as immigrants to America reflects a similar pattern. Hard work with focus on education & launching the next generation well have served some so we'll Harvard is now descriminating against some Asians.

More government isn't the answer as these people suggest. Getting out of the way of the church is a start.

When it comes to promoting "wokeness," Jim is a man with a mission. But it is not the real Gospel. It is the Marxist replica, a poor replacement.

Same old tired arguments, Jim.

Salt has to be salty and it can't stay in its container to be useful as a preservative, to paraphrase the Lord. If we are to be salt and light, then we need to stand against what the Lord says is wrong andnstandnup for what the Lord says is right. Jim, you either have a very different view of what the Lord says or you don't care what He says, only listening to the cultural icons of this age. Praying for you to come into the Light where you can see more clearly.

Jim, I think what you think is "racism" and what most of the rest of us think is "racism" are two very different things.

Cultural Revolution 2.0 continues.

“Any religious content makes the issue political, not religious."

In light of the so-called "woke" congregations and church leaders that are following the culture in general, one can see our own sets of "approved" churches here...until their presence is no longer desired or needed.

Pay attention to how our brothers- & sisters-in-Christ from China deal with this. We here in the West may need their strategies and the strong focus of their faith.

Jim, your constant championing of woke causes and language mirrors that of those who seek to press this alternate reality on the body of Christ. Critical Race Theory is a lie meant to deceive about socialism and the embracing of sin. You would do well to turn from it to Christ, as these others who are deceived.

Sadly, these people do not know what it is that they rage about and the land they seek. Sin that infects and defects us all is the root cause. They could rightly protest Satan as the entity who brought it to Adam and Eve, or they could protest the actions of our first parents. The place they seek is Eden, long wiped from this Earth by the Flood. Only a removal of sin and a restoration of creation will satisfy.

That time is coming. But unless these people come to saving faith with resultant repentance, they, sadly, have a different destination and future.

The Lord's attributes are clearly seen in the things that He has made. How readily is man to willingly suppress that knowledge.

How fast would the bird have flown without all that gear?

Our sense as people that we are so smart should be challenged by the lack of what we have yet to discover. Yet we as societies routinely declare ourselves the masters of our own universe as if we know and control so much.

Really appreciate your perspective, Brother Wayfarer. That was a piece of the situation my wife found herself in. The boy wasn't failing but wasn't reaching his potential and wouldn't have. His parents were distracted by work, etc and apparently didn't notice what was happening with their child. They were probably counting on the school to which they had delegated their responsibility, and when the school didn't say or do something, they didn't either.

From your experience & ours, it really seems like it comes down to parents. You took the effort to raise your skills, a commendable effort. My mother used to teach an adult literacy course for the those who were worse off. Opportunities are out there.

One of the early efforts at public education was to build literacy so individuals could read and understand their Bibles, newly available in something other than the Vulgate. Seems like we'll have to reinvigorate the effort if we want to build Biblical literacy. Sunday school?
