Thank you, June..but the Scripture cited by another is a play on words...obviously, one cannot pray in an unknown language for they would not know for that which they were asking.
So the Scripture that another cited 1 Corinthians 14:14 King James Version (KJV)
14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
This is would not qualify as "praying" in tongues.
Why would one pray in a foreign language of which they have no understanding?

Thank you, Youth, for your input.
As for "Jesus" icons or pictures...the communists are really in the dark believing that these things are actually honoring to Christ to begin with.
Ironically, we would be blessed if all of the "Jesus" and "Christian" statues,pictures and the rest of the idols were removed from our midst as well.

Dr. Tim...there is no praying in tongues, only speaking ...as you have outlined for which we have no need today.
Praying in tongues is a false, man-made doctrine. If one reads the untainted Word, one will find that the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us...with groanings not UTTERED.
A Christian has the Holy Spirit and the Word.
Sign gifts are not needed and not all were to speak in tongues at the time when they were used.

1 CORINTHIANS 1:22
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Clearly, we would do well to preach Christ crucified and not seek after feel good experiences.

You're very kind, June. I pray for discernment and am excited when the Lord can use even me.
It is notable how one word changes everything. I wonder if other "versions" of the Bible use "praying in tongues" instead of "speaking".

Romans 8:26

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

Someone correct me if I am wrong..I know that the Bible speaks of "SPEAKING" in tongues but does it say anything about "PRAYING" in tongues?..or have people mistakenly come up with the idea of praying in tongues ? One word makes a big difference sometimes in what is conveyed.

As for the true gift of tongues...a sign gift given for confirmation of what was communicated...with witnesses

If this fellow wants prophecy, he would do well to look at the completed revelation in Scripture.
There is no new revelation.

You haven't made a valid point as to why we should go along with changing the meaning of a word that is in the Bible to mean something which is abominable.
Money is still money, lights are still lights,love is still love,charity is still charity (a benevolence towards others).
"Gay" in the Bible never meant sodomite.

Unprofitable-
I care more what the Scripture says. Because the word "gay" is in the Bible,better,to not go with man's ever changing opinion. If one does then they have to turn over the rainbow too.
Scripture cannot be twisted to suit the culture. We certainly wouldn't revise the KJV Bible because of man's perversion..though we do have perversions of the Bible.
and,sadly, Christopher...some who are dark like to be identified by that single attribute so calling a spade a spade is probably not racist.
The gist of what I was saying is that we don't change the Word of God to accommodate society...dangerous territory.

I understand that the sodomites use the word gay. The problem is in not calling them what the Bible calls them,. The problem in going along with their words is that it corrupts the Word of God.
We would not pull the word "gay" from Scripture and concede that it has a perverse meaning which man has now dictated.
Simply call a spade a spade. Better, call things and those that which God calls them. If a sodomite thinks that there is nothing wrong with their sodomy then they shouldn't object to being called a sodomite.
"Gay" softens what God calls an abomination....much like what we have allowed society to soften and glamorize...adulterers have "affairs" for example,prostitution is glamorous for the most part,etc.
No one said that sodomites are any more abominable than other sinners. Adulterers ,for example, are just as bad.

The problem that you run into then,Unprofitable,by going along with the term "gay" is then changing a word which has a different meaning in Scripture.
While the culture may use it to mean something entirely different, we would best just stick to what the Bible calls their sin rather than go along with their revision of words in Scripture even outdated words.
The logical progression then is allowing for the culture to change the Bible...i.e. the rainbow.
If one would concede that another is "gay" and not a "sodomite", then there would be no Scriptures to back up homosexuality as sin. People could just make up another definition for "sodomite" as well or leave all Scriptures in regards to it out of the Bible completely. We already have a problem with this in all of the versions of the so-called Bible in english.
Another example is the word "easter" which was a pagan observance to "astarte"/fertility.
What we end up with is the misuse of words in scripture.
Calling something good an abominable name is no small error.
Obviously, "easter" for pagans and RCs is different than for Christians.
Both can't be right.

I haven't found any errors in the KJV.

However, here is just one example where the KJV only gets it right:

The only One full of grace is:

John 1:14 KJV

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The nasb version would have Stephen "full of grace" rather than "full of faith" in Acts 6:8

...just an example of how the Word gets perverted...which sets up for crazy ideas as Mary then being full of grace

It's not insignificant.

Apparently, the differences are CRITICAL.

I have to ask what the problem is with the KJV as the true word of God in english?? There are none.

...and is easy enough to read. Better to read as it is more precise as in the use of "thee" and "thou", for example.
