Mike, just one reason that the state may fund education on the local level, is because local school districts may not have the money to pay for all the teachers they need or some of the facilities ❗👍
Mark Joseph Stern wrote:
On Tuesday, in a sweeping 5–4 decision, the Supreme Court forced a majority of states to fund private religious schools in a ruling that compels millions of U.S. taxpayers to subsidize Christian education—even if financing another religion violates their own beliefs. Incredibly, this maximalist decision did not go far enough for two conservative justices who would apparently let states establish an official religion. In dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor described the majority’s decision as “perverse.” That may be an understatement: Its decision is the culmination of a yearslong assault on secular governance and augurs even more radical rulings down the road....

Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos has worked to give private schools a bigger share of coronavirus relief funding, but public school groups say her action violates the intent of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act and directly takes funding away from low-income students in public schools. While private schools around the country say they’re struggling, public schools ― which serve 90% of the nation’s children ― also anticipate having to lay off hundreds of thousands of teachers....

In a call with Catholic leaders last month, President Donald Trump promised to help these schools, calling himself the “best [president] in the history of the Catholic Church,” according to the Catholic news website Crux.

But so far, Mears estimated that the closures will impact at least 50,000 students.

“I know we’re important to the country,” said Mears, noting that a majority of sitting Supreme Court justices attended Catholic or Jesuit schools as children...

The French-based Interpol has not commented on the matter.

It is unlikely, however, that Interpol will act on the request given that the agency's constitution prohibits it from taking on "any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character."

The U.S. airstrike that killed Soleimani was championed by Defense Secretary Mark Esper as a "decisive defensive action." He said at the time Soleimani was plotting attacks on U.S. diplomats and service members.

A retaliatory attack by Iran came on Jan 8, just days after the U.S. airstrike. Iran fired missiles on al-Asad air base in Iraq, where U.S. troops were stationed. As NPR reported, dozens of American personnel

"... the strong comments of former Franciscan priest Emmett McLoughlin. In his Crime and Immorality in the Catholic Church he argues as follows:

"The purpose of this book is to show that the Roman Catholic Church in its most important work sanctification is a failure. Among its members crime and immorality are greater than the unchurched or the members of other churches. Whatever else the Roman Catholic Church may be able to do… it cannot, it has not, and it does not make the majority of its members better and holier…. That the Roman Catholic Church has been one of the most powerful influences in the history of all civilization cannot be seriously denied…. [Nevertheless] It is my contention and my sincere conviction, from my experience in the Catholic educational system, my life of fifteen years in the priesthood, and thirteen years of constant observation and intense study since leaving the Church, that its influence on all civilization has been far more of evil than of good…. Morally, this book will show the high rate of crime and sin among Roman Catholics everywhere, and particularly in the United States. It will also demonstrate that this immorality is not in spite of Catholic education and training, but directly because of it..."

Even though I didn't write the post that you responded to Frank, I think I'll answer your remark anyway. Someone is absolutely sure and most everything --he is usually a religious fanatic. There are instances of Christian is supposed to be sure, but in most cases politics is not an area that they are sure of, or should be.

A Muslim or a Romish Church member may be absolutely sure something, but in in most cases he is absolutely wrong❗👎

Mike, we will let you complain if they try to change one of the major museums in New York City.

Wall Street Journal another source of information points out how covid-19 is devastating to nursing home residents and their caretakers.

A Wall Street Journal tally of state data compiling fatalities from Covid-19, the disease caused by the virus, underscores the virus’s heavy cost to those living in long-term-care facilities. Deaths among senior-care center staff and residents appear to represent at least 40% of the overall count of more than 116,000 U.S. fatalities related to Covid-19 as compiled by Johns Hopkins University....

I would be surprised if somebody didn't have it relative or somebody they knew in a nursing home at one time or another. My mother even did volunteer work for our county nursing home when she was alive. They certainly weren't facility one wanted to go to before the virus, and now people well do anything I would think to avoid going to one of them ❗👎☣️

Watchmanremo, it seems like a month ago there was a serious outbreak of covid-19 I believe in a Sydney nursing home. It is a devilish virus and it attacks the elderly worldwide.

The Chinese Government is taking draconian measures to slash birth rates among Uyghurs and other minorities as part of a sweeping campaign to curb its Muslim population, even as it encourages some of the country's Han majority to have more children.

•Use of forced abortions, IUDs and sterilisation has seen birth rates in Uyghur-dominated areas drop rapidly

•The United States has condemned targeted birth control in Xinjiang

•Some experts warn the revelations are further evidence of intention to commit genocide against Uyghurs....

Those Indian Business Partners

It didn’t take long after the election for President Trump to be seen in public with international business partners. According to a November 19 article in The New York Times, Trump took a break from his transition schedule to meet with three Indian real-estate executives who are currently building a Trump-branded apartment complex in Mumbai. According to both Trump and the Indian businessmen, the meeting was essentially congratulatory in nature; a picture posted by one of the executives on Twitter shows the four men smiling broadly and giving a thumbs-up to the camera. However, that the meeting happened in the first place suggests that Trump does not currently have any qualms about forestalling official state business for personal business.

On top of that, the meeting raises questions in the blind-trust realm as well. The president himself was not the only member of his family there; two Facebook photos show that Ivanka and Eric Trump both attended the meeting...

If I'm Joe Biden, I don't think the vice presidential pick matters that much in getting elected or not elected. What it really matters is in governing. He needs someone who can help him govern. He needs someone who can make sure that there is no gigantic civil war between moderates and people on the left within his administration.

He needs somebody who maybe can take over on a moment's notice. And so I would focus on that. Now, are there women color who can do that? Obviously. Maybe Mayor Bottoms. I don't know. I think there's a — there's a lot of people who could fit that bill.

And so I think he has a lot of great options. But I just would say it's about governing, not about running.

Actually, Adriel, a Democrat has a very good chance of winning the Presidency. Many of Trump supporters voted for him as a joke. Many of those voters in 2016 now realize that the joke was on them--and they are not happy about it ❗👍

Romans 1:28-32

28. Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29. being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, malice; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil habits, secret slanderers, 30. backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31. without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32. who, knowing the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them.
