Off subject, John, but I was wondering if you still do your paintings?

PTL❗❗❗❗👍
Serenity Prayer
- Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.
Amen.
Wow, Jim. If only you had actually believed that for the last 4 years. Think how much stress you could have avoided.

Funny how often rebellious governments can just make things up, then enforce it. In the name of public safety of course. Anyone remember hearing of the Committee of Public Safety during the French Revolution? They did such a good job keeping people safe from disagreeing with them, it led to some guy named Napoleon.

Jim/Lincoln we see you're calling on your RC friends at Loyola to find support for racist theories. You should write an anti-Catholic post now, just to provide balance. And mention "white" for added color.

Apparently, the ex-Obama official wasn't the only one who saw the case was a little waste of time, apparently Governor Cuomo and chief justice Roberts was of similar opinion?
Maybe this ex-Obama staffer should overrule the Supreme Court? You should read Roberts' ridiculous disagreement. How a Chief Justice misses the whole point of Constitutional law should raise even independent Nebraskan eyebrows. As for Cuomo, he's your standard leftist power hungry and hypocritical politician, ever applying his opinions in discriminatory ways. Which is why he was rightfully called on this one.

Who cares what an ex Obama staffer says? If his mental headlights had brights, he would never have been an Obama staffer.

By the way, Prince Charles, our heir to the throne is a supporter of this, as well as the WEF, the UN, the IMF, and of course, the current Pope Francis, and China is in the head with its social credit scheme and now its new COVID 19 traffic light scheme QR code digital passport being wheeled out for all its citizens.
Don’t know if you know it, Chrisgp, but the goofy phrase “Build Back Better” was Joe Biden’s campaign slogan.

Jim/Lincoln, why are you complaining about drinking Kool-Aid? I thought it was your favorite refreshment. Your concern for the “community” is noted. Not believed, but noted.

Sorry Jim, the only numbers that count when you’re making a case for seriousness or the call for a particular response is the death rate. CDC numbers show the death rate has been dropping since May. This includes deaths from other than Covid 19, that were called Covid. The real death rate would be less, but even without excluding contrived numbers, it is 1/3 of what it was in May. No one among alleged experts or media talks of death rate for a reason. No one among them, when quoting total cases, talks of recoveries, which by far most cases have become. Sounds like we’re getting overrun by it, right? They just keep adding to a number that doesn’t exist in real terms. You don’t have to be a conspiracy theorist to figure out something underhanded is going on. When the blind follow the blind....

“Members of this Court are not public health experts”

They don’t have to be. They only need remind politicians that there is no exception-for-COVID-19 clause in the First Amendment, nor authority to apply law unequally at any time. In this case remind Governor Cuomo that his executive edicts are subject to the highest law of the land.

Health officials are not governing authorities to begin with. And as the verse says, the authority of governors is to punish those who do evil, and praise those who do good. It would be difficult to find in there God ordained authority to do the opposite.

Experts are are not stunned that millions travel. Experts are stunned that the people don't all listen to them with rapt attention. It's their egos, not their knowledge that they are concerned for. Some Christians on the other hand, claim sinful rebellion is the reason for travel. Perhaps the travelers have weighed the risk, and found it acceptable? They count the cost? Where did that principle come from? In what way is it wrong? Naturally nothing is said of the rebellion of unbelieving and therefore unwise political/medical experts, with their contradictory and/or selective "expert" proclamations, nor anything of the unlawful and often anti-Christ edicts of unauthorized governors. These by the way are not experts in much of anything, except making speeches, declaring themselves essential at continuing high wages, and the working class folk who pay their wages as non essential. Foolishness abounds.

Mike,
Its those emergency powers that gives them their notion. Thankfully, we have elected a sensable governor who has exercised them only as needed. Yours and others, not so much.
Yes, my governor is quite the guy. Takes no responsibility at all for all the nursing home deaths he made happen by executive order, Says it never happened. (He, um, misspoke, I saw the public health order) He just received an Emmy for having so many dramatic daily press briefings. Gets applauded for being governor of the State with the most covid deaths, celebrates a law that oks abortion up until birth by lighting up the Empire State Building in color. But we gotta remember he’s there to punish evildoers like churchgoers.

Edit. He’s not my governor. I’m older than he is.

Insanity. So many examples of the lunacy of the prevailing interpretation of Romans 13 yet no one is willing to say that can't be right and search for a better answer that doesn't constantly encounter absurd contradictions. Easier to just say we will obey unless it is contrary to God then we won't. Doesn't say much about God's ability to institute a new ordinance leaving the decision to comply or not up to the subjective reasoning of fallible man.
Lurker, most seem to think "powers that be" MUST mean a single or group of overlords, hovering over the people. But they don't want to accept the form that God gave this country. And to put it bluntly, the powers that be that are ordained of God are the people, as put forth in the founding documents. And those employees of the people who would take that authority from them are resisting the ordinance of God. This is hard to even grasp for those whose history is that of subjects. Sadly, they fight to keep their mental servitude intact, even as they no longer have physical servitude.

The only thing we flattened with instituting a lockdown was the curve of the economy.
I keep wondering where the notion comes from that governors who have no legislative authority can order "laws" the little people must obey, especially if they are Christians? In a nation established of laws, and not of men, it's odd that some who claim Christ have no issue with promoting disobedience of the law when they say we must instead obey unlawful men.
