Jesus is the answer to my sin problem, frankly because I am asked to be "perfect, as my Heavenly Father is perfect" and in no way am I capable of that. Therefore, when I am bothered by a sin that I can't seem to control, I pray to Jesus to help we resist the temptations. But, sinners become attached to their sin and there is sometime struggle to 'want' to be free.My Good Works: (1)The desire to perform these 'Good Works' was given to me by God, therefore, the good work is his not mine. (2) Jesus is the Master and I am his servant. Does a servant deserve a reward for doing his duty? No! A servant, does his duty and replies to his Lord, "I am your humble servant, doing only what was mine to do". (3) Good Works prove that our faith is a real, saving faith and not just 'head knowledge'. "faith without works is dead" [James 2:26]. Purgatory: Is an ancient belief of the early Church (read the Church Fathers). Purgatory, if it is a place or process or a time, is only for souls who have already won Heaven, but who are not yet "dressed properly" to attend the Wedding Feast. |

Neil: I am fascinated by all of your knowledge and suitably impressed, however, speaking WITH me rather than over-my head would help in our communication. At least define your terms. My points are as follows: How can the death of a generation be of any good? If you really can't define the "Common good", then please...never run for public office; in fact, what useful good are you to anyone else? Your point appears to be: That if 56% of Roman Catholics don't understand basic human decency and the fundamentals of Christian morality, then, we should change our ancient God given beliefs and join the barbarians? In other words, if your kids believe that Washington D.C. lies in France, then we move D.C. overseas! (This is a trick question, we all know that Washington D.C. would lie, where ever it was!) Perhaps the priest's should blame their own teaching methods, or their own committment to the ideals of the faith. Perhaps it's a sign of the times that people will fail to believe the truth and follow immorality because its easier. |

EA: How would you know if any of these monks are saved? Just because they don't go to your Church, you ASSUME that they are unsaved. If you really ARE Jesus Christ, and only then, would you know their status. By condeming them as UNSAVED, you are going against a direct command of Christ's, "Condemn not, lest you be condemned also". IMHO, you are very much like these monks. Alway trying to separate yourself from the sinner, always in a holier-than-thou position, and looking at your fellow Christians as a satanic enemy, worthy only of a good punch in the nose. One day I hope you will become a "mature Christian" and not just a partisan bomb-thrower. |
