Just a thought- if you truly wish to support flood victims begin with the body of believers. Contact some of the churches on here and see how you may be able to help. Our church for one is helping its family first, as it should be, and now reaching into the community.
@jim Lincoln - you are seriously worried about who is going to pay for this clean up? You are truly a sad and vile being, I pray our paths never cross...
I read somewhere recently that they still sell more NIV than any other translation by a large margin. In sure it is all tied together with their Sunday school curriculum.
@jim Lincoln- not everything needs a political article. Did you hear about the lady in Beaumont who drowned with her small child still clutching to her? Well that is family to one of my co workers. We don't give a rats rear for politics right now. This is life and death , and many too many to their damnation!
I live where there are the Lifeway Christian stores. It's really the same Joyce Meyer, Joel osteen garbage that could keep Family Christian stores open. Ironically the bookstore of the SBC, even with there own Bible translation, sells mostly things they preach against on Sunday. I understand the independent church thing, but they do belong. Last time I was in one they had one very small shelf of anything with substance. You can't right enough new books to keep people interested in fueling the machine and nothing written these days is worth owning. You reach a point where you already own all the good books and don't need anymore.
If someone were to believe that Joel is being picked on because he is a high profile celebrity speaker he is not. Even Kerry Shook at The Woodlands church opened their doors to the displaced and distribute donations. They peddle the same milk.
One of the highest crime areas here is full of Hurricane Katrina transplants. There were reports of looting and volunteer rescuers being fired upon in that neighborhood. I wish Louisiana would take them all back..
I believe Paul made altar calls in Colossians or was it Ephesians? Jesus did the first altar call in Acts? No?!! That's right....altar calls are un-Biblical just like the "sinners prayer ". Repent...
