Jim,are you really so naive as to believe the Democrats have a better plan for America than Mr. Trump does? The Dims won’t just throw Granny off the cliff. They’ll shove her off with tanks—especially if she criticizes Big Government.

Yes, DO vote. And pray. If America falls to licentiousness and communism, it won’t be the fault of the ungodly liberals. It will be the fault of God’s own people who refused to stand in the gap and pray for our nation and its leaders—II Chronicles 7:14.

How many leaders of the Richmond rioters have been charged? I seem to recall that there were more than 16 people in their mob.

Yes, WFP, a good sermon I heard today is “Only Be Strong” by R.B. Ouellette.

Ladybug, if repentance from sin means to stop sinning, then you’re absolutely right, no one is saved. Proverbs 20:9–”Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?” While no one seems to want to come right out and say it, many, many Christians at least imply that salvation is contingent upon turning away from sin. (If that’s not works, I’d sure like to know what is!) I can just about guarantee that you’ll never get a straight answer when you ask, “Turn from which sins? And for how long?”
Do I believe Christians should turn from sin? Absolutely. I turn from mine about 200 times an hour, on average. But I do that because I’m saved, and not in an effort of my own to get saved. Repentance from sin is something saved sinners do. Repentance from unbelief and dead works is what unsaved sinners must do. Now it’s time for ol’ Doc’s siesta, so please excuse me for a while.

James, there are some scriptures that are obviously literal, some that are obviously figurative, and others that are not so clear. The only way to know what’s what is to study, comparing scripture to scripture. I have found word studies to be helpful, where I study a word such as “repent” as well as its variations (repentance, repented, etc.). However, I would recommend doing this in addition to studying the Bible from cover to cover again and again, and not in lieu of doing so. I hope this helps. I only have the phone app, and your original question is no longer on it.

When I need a good laugh, WFP, I watch Nancy Pelican and Alexandria Occasional-Cortex trying to act like they actually know something. When I need a good cry, I do the same thing.

Now WFP, you stop trying to inject logic into the situation! Next thing you know you’ll be advocating common sense, and you know how loathsome that is to liberals.

What’s wrong with the math, Mike? If you picture an average circle, that represents 100 percent. So 110 percent would just represent a 10 percent larger circle, right? Wait—am I starting to sound like a Democrat?

Carl wrote: “Reconciliation, not reparations.” Amen brother! For those who have been truly reconciled to God through the blood of Jesus Christ, reconciliation with one another should be a piece of cake. Unfortunately it isn’t always, but it SHOULD be.

Dead works are “good deeds” or acts of law-keeping that are done in an effort to earn salvation. I don’t know what the Gentiles in question repented “from,” but if they “repented unto salvation—and clearly they did, then they repented of their unbelief.

Ladybug wrote: “What do you repent of?”
1. Repent OF unbelief—Mt. 21:32, Mk. 1:15, II Tim. 2:25, Jn. 3:18, 36
2. Repent FROM dead works—Heb. 6:1
3. Repent TOWARD God—Acts 20:21, cf Heb. 6:1, Acts 26:20 (Note: “Repent and turn to God” are not two separate things, but one, as “I fell in the water and got soaked.”)
4. Repent UNTO salvation—Acts 11:18, II Cor. 7:10, II Pet. 3:9, cf Jn. 3:14-16.

Hope this is helpful in explaining what repentance is as pertaining to salvation, Ladybug. Repentance as it applies to those who are already saved is a whole other topic. If I typed in any of the wrong references, please point it out and I’ll try to correct it as soon as I can. Thanks.

Those who see themselves as doomed sinners and turn to Christ for salvation have repented. Those who genuinely repent turn to Christ for salvation. It is not two separate things, but two sides of the same coin.

Jesus saves everyone who trusts Him for salvation, and everyone who trusts Him for salvation is elect. Whether they trust Him because they are elect, or they are elect because they trust Him, either way they are SAVED. If you have been following these conversations for any length of time and worrying about whether you are elect or not, you can stop worrying about it right now. If you have a desire to get saved, that means God is drawing you, and if He is drawing you, then you can get saved by trusting in Jesus as the one who died for YOUR sins, was buried, and rose again from the dead. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and THOU shalt be saved.”

Well said, Chrisgp. If you want to know what is really happening in America, Google “The Naked Communist” and see how far the marxists have come toward achieving the goals they set in the early 1960s.

Remember Steve Irwin, the “Crocodile Hunter”? Steve insisted on playing with deadly creatures, and it eventually cost him his life. Minnesota voters insisted on playing with deadly creatures known as liberals, and it cost them half a billion smackers. Sorry, Minnesota, but you asked for it. Not a nickel of my tax dollars should go to pay for your idiocy.

That sure was a clever plot the Jews hatched to bankrup Germany, “American,” so that Germany would murder millions of them.
How were freed slaves supposed to get to Liberia when they had never received a nickel for their labor? And why would they want to go there when they were as far removed from Africa, generationally speaking, as white Americans were from England?
As for the “forty acres and a mule,” not many received it, and most of the ones who did had their land confiscated and given back to the whites after the Civil War.
I am totally against reparations simply because of the biblical principle that the children are not to be held accountable for the sins of the fathers. However, I am also against twisting the facts to make it appear that black people in previous generations were given a fair shake. They may have equal opportunities now, but that certainly wasn’t the case in the past. Many of us older Americans can remember when facilities for blacks and whites were separate but anything but equal, and the vast majority of black people could only find menial jobs because higher education and better-paying jobs were simply closed to them.
Reparations? Bad idea. Rewriting history? Another bad idea.

Sounds pretty reasonable. Of course when they get through printing all the money for it, a million dollars will only be worth a dime.

I’m an old man, Watchmanremo. I’m losing my hair, my teeth, my hearing, my eyesight and my memory. If I weren’t gaining weight, there’d be nothing left of me.
